11 October 2011 - The Bike Shop at Devereux will be holding it's 4th Annual Bike Drive on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm at 119 Old Lancaster Road, Devon, PA 19333!
Clean out your garage and bring your old bikes to us! Our men and women with intellectual disabilities will refurbish and re-sell bikes of all sizes to local college students and community members. This year, a portion of bikes donated and refurbished will then be donated to A Better Chance - Radnor.
The Bike Shop is a part of The Shops at Devereux, the vocational program for Devereux PA Adult Services. The Shops serves 150 adults with intellectual disabilities, training transferable work skills through real, on-site businesses that are open to the public. In addition to the Bike Shop, employees train and work in a full-service floral shop, greenhouse, pewter manufacturing shop, auto repair shop, custom apparel shop, cleaning crew, recycling pick-up crew, and packaging/fulfillment center.
In June 2009, Victoria David received the 2009 A Better Chance Excellence Award. Victoria was honored at the National A Better Chance luncheon in New York City, where her award was presented. Victoria received this award for her recognition of outstanding academic performance, contributions to Radnor High School's community, and demonstrated leadership abilities. Congratulations Victoria!
